Interrupts

Did you know that computer are one of the most complicated machines in existence?Because computers can be programmed, they can do a wide range of tasks. This means that computers are not meant to perform a single task, but rather to perform any task that their programmes instruct them to perform. When a process or event requires immediate attention, hardware or software emits an interrupt signal. It informs the processor to a high-priority operation that requires the present working process to be interrupted. One of the bus control lines in I/O devid=ces is allocated to this purpose and is known as the Interrupt Service Routine(ISR). When a device raises an interrupt at process I for example, the processor completes the execution of instruction I first. The address of the ISR's first instruction is then loaded into the Program Counter (PC). The address of the interrupted instruction is transferred to a temporary location before being loaded into the Program Counter.
