Yoga, which has been practised in India since the fifth century, has proven to be beneficial in maintaining good health of both the body and the mind. Yoga is a holistic approach that addresses all of the body's and mind's systems. It is said that the asanas strengthen and stretch the body, and that as one's health improves, one's mind becomes more confident. Pranayama practise regulates the purification of the internal system and organs, serving as a superior and capable supplement to asanas. The energy produced in the body by these physical practises is then channeled into meditation or Dhyan for stability, peace, and calm. International Yoga Day is celebrated on the 21st of June as it is the longest day.
