International Human Rights Day commemorates the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on December 10, 1948. Human rights refer to fundamental freedoms and rights, such as the right to life, health, education, freedom of expression and thought, and equality. This day is commemorated to promote equality, peace, justice, freedom, and human dignity. Every person, regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, or social status, is entitled to certain rights.
