Interesting Facts About Shakespeare

Presentations | English

"William Shakespeare perhaps the world’s most popular writer and playwright, has written about 37 plays and over 150 poems, notwithstanding the ones that still remain unknown or have been lost over time. Absurd enough as he was, there’s very limited information about his early life and for seven years, from 1585 to 1592, there are no records at all- these years of his life are referred to as “the lost years”. In 1592, he mysteriously appeared in London as an actor and playwright and was immensely criticized. His plays comprising on comedy, tragedy and history were presented in the Globe Theatre and were open to both the rich and the poor. These plays had the Royal Seal of Approval as both Queen Elizabeth I and James VI, would call for his company to come and perform. At the age of 52, he passed away as he got ill and even on his gravestone, an epitaph written by himself is engraved- a curse laid upon anyone who might try to “move his bones”."
