"One of the most discussed topics in psychology is intelligence. It can be explained as th ability to acquire as well as apply the knowledge along with thinking skills, ability to reason, plan, solve, learn etc. The Intelligence Quotient (IQ) gives the measure of intelligence with age. Brain volume, working memory capacity and neural transmission speed are factors that determine IQ of an individual. About 95 percent of people have the IQ range between 70 and 130. Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand the meanings of emotions and reason or solve them. Researchers came forward with theories to explain the nature of intelligence. General intelligence is a concept put forth by Spearman, who concluded its a cognitive ability which is measurable. Thurstone's theory focused of primary mental abilities like associative memory, numerative ability, perceptual speed, reasoning, spatial visualization, word fluency and verbal comprehension.
