Insure Vs Ensure - Template 02

Images | English

Ensure first appeared in English shortly after assure, with the meaning "to declare earnestly to; state confidently to." It is now commonly used to describe the action of securing or guaranteeing a result or development, as in This ticket guarantees that you will be seated at the event. As a variant of ensure, insure made its way into the English language. In the mid-1600s, however, insure came to mean "to pay a sum to secure indemnity to or on, in case of loss, damage, or death." In general, the terms ensure and insure are interchangeable, but insure today is distinguished by its financial sense. We mostly use the word insure to refer to providing or obtaining insurance.
