This drama song is from the very famous play titled “Uthishtta Jagratha.” The song that starts with “Innente Sooryane” was beautifully written by the great Malayalam poet O.N.V. Kurup. The dramatic literature in Malayalam maybe said to commence with the translation of some of the outstanding dramas in Sanskrit. Later it also influenced the English dramas, but then after many years dramatic literature in Malayalam had their own style of writing. Music has been a part of Malayalam dramas, especially the folk songs. O.N.V. Kurup has a rare gift of portraying the rural atmosphere by his specialized diction. This play was presented by the Sooryasoma theatre group.
ഈ നാടകഗാനം"ഉത്തിഷ്ഠത ജാഗ്രത" എന്ന വളരെ പ്രശസ്തമായ നാടകത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ളതാണ്."ഇന്നെന്റെ സൂര്യനെ" എന്നു തുടങ്ങുന്ന നാടകഗാനം മനോഹരമായി എഴുതിയത് മലയാളത്തിന്റെ മഹാകവി ഒ.എൻ.വി. കുറുപ്പാണ്. മലയാളത്തിലെ നാടകസാഹിത്യത്തിന്റെ തുടക്കം സംസ്കൃതത്തിലെ ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ ചില നാടകങ്ങളുടെ വിവർത്തനത്തോടെയായിരിക്കാം. പിന്നീട് അത് ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് നാടകങ്ങളെയും സ്വാധീനിച്ചു, എന്നാൽ വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷം മലയാളത്തിലെ നാടക സാഹിത്യത്തിന് അവരുടേതായ രചനാശൈലി ഉണ്ടായി. മലയാള നാടകങ്ങളുടെ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് നാടൻ പാട്ടുകളുടെ ഭാഗമാണ് സംഗീതം. ഗ്രാമീണാന്തരീക്ഷം തന്റെ വിശേഷണത്താൽ ആവിഷ്കരിക്കുക എന്ന അപൂർവമായ കഴിവാണ് ഒ.എൻ.വി. കുറുപ്പിനുള്ളത്. സൂര്യസോമ നാടകസംഘമാണ് ഈ നാടകം അവതരിപ്പിച്ചത്.
