The term 'inherent' refers to something that already exists and is a permanent attribute or characteristic. Legally, the inherent powers of the court refer to the authoritative power of the court that allows it to exert actions that can deliver complete justice to the parties before it. The nature of these powers is such that they can only be exercised under a certain set of circumstances. If the situation demands it, after every other action previously performed, the court’s inherent powers are then called for.
