Presentations | English

Who started 1857 revolt? What caused the Indian revolt of 1857? What happened in the Indian revolt of 1857? How did 1857 revolt end? On 29 March 1857 at Barrackpore, Sepoy Mangal Pandey of the 34th Bengal Native Infantry attacked his officers. When his comrades were ordered to restrain him they refused, but they stopped short of joining him in open revolt. The Revolt of 1857 lasted for more than a year. It was suppressed by the middle of 1858. On July 8, 1858, fourteen months after the outbreak at Meerut, peace was finally proclaimed by Canning. Why was 1857 mutiny not a success? The revolt was eventually not successful in ousting the British from the country because of several factors. The sepoys lacked one clear leader; there were several. They also did not have a coherent plan by which the foreigners would be routed. Don’t you think that the Indian Revolt was an integral factor in the Indian history? Isn’t it important that we learn more about the Indian revolt of 1857? Don’t you want to learn more about the significant place held by the Indian Revolt? Let’s learn more, shall we?
