Under which field does Immunology come? Immunology is a branch of biology that covers the study of immune systems in all organisms. Immunology has applications in numerous disciplines of medicine, particularly in the fields of organ transplantation, oncology, rheumatology, virology, bacteriology, parasitology, psychiatry, and dermatology. Immunology includes all physical, chemical, and biological reactions of the organism against foreign substances. The immune system is divided into two types: innate immunity and adaptive immunity. Adaptive immunity is further divided into two types that are humoral and cell-mediated immunity. Immunological disorders are diseases or conditions caused by a dysfunction of the immune system and include allergy, asthma, autoimmune diseases, auto inflammatory syndromes, and immunological deficiency syndromes. Research has repeatedly shown that women have a stronger immune response to infections than men.
