Hypnosis

Presentations | English

Hypnosis, also referred to as hypnotherapy or hypnotic suggestion, is a trance-like state in which you have heightened focus and concentration. Hypnosis is usually done with the help of a therapist using verbal repetition and mental images. When you're under hypnosis, you usually feel calm and relaxed, and are more open to suggestions. People respond to hypnosis in different ways. People in a hypnotic state often seem sleepy and zoned out, but in reality, they are in a state of hyper-awareness. Some describe hypnosis as a state of focused attention, in which they feel very calm and relaxed. Most people describe the experience as pleasant. Hypnosis is a very real process that can be used as a therapeutic tool. Hypnosis has been shown to have medical and therapeutic benefits most notably in the reduction of pain and anxiety. It has even been suggested that hypnosis can reduce the symptoms of dementia. During hypnosis, a trained hypnotist or hypnotherapist induces a state of intense concentration or focused attention. This is a guided process with verbal cues and repetition.
