Telugu is the mother tongue of close to 10 crore people, across the world. It also boasts of a rich literature and has many spoken dialects. It is one of the Dravidian languages and it's script can be traced back to the 10th century AD. It shares close resemblance to the Kannada script. The language itself has undergone many transformations. Thout not much is clearly known about the true origins of the Telugu language, the Gadhasapthasathi written during the 1st century AD contains many Telugu words.
