Agattiyam, conjointly spelled as Akattiyam, in line with Tamil tradition, was the earliest book on Tamil descriptive linguistics. it's a non-extant text, historically believed to possess been compiled and educated within the 1st Sangam, by Agattiar (Agastya) to 12 students.Sage Agattiyar (Agastya), in medieval commentaries of Tamil Hindu students, is diversely attributable with either making the Tamil language or learning it from the god Shiva. Tolkappiyar is believed to possess lived throughout the Second Sangam and to be the author of the Tolkappiyam that has survived.
