History & Features of Accounting Software

Presentations | English

Managing a company's finances can be difficult, which is why you need accounting software to help you track your money as it flows in and out of your accounts. All online accounting software uses double-entry accounting to ensure accuracy and have accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking and reporting features. Some also include inventor management, project management, time tracking and payroll tools, though these features are usually in higher-tier plans or add-ons that cost extra. Accounting's history can be traced back thousands of years to the cradle of civilisation in Mesopotamia and is said to have developed alongside writing, counting and money. The early Egyptians and Babylonians created auditing systems, while the Romans collated detailed financial information. In 1981, major multinational companies started making it mandatory to provide customers with spreadsheets. This became the origin of 'Peachtree,' the first accounting software developed and implemented across companies.
