Presentations | English

Also known as Cognitive Heart Failure (CHF), occurs when the heart muscles doesn't pump blood as it normally should. In this case, the blood back up in lungs causing fluid buildup and shortness of breath. Heart conditions like coronary artery disease or high blood pressure can gradually make the heart too weak to perform pumping activity. Proper treatment can improve the symptoms as well as help people live longer. Changes in lifestyle like weight management, exercising, managing stress can improve quality of life. Heart failure can be chronic or start suddenly. Symptoms are shortness of breath, fatigue, weakness, rapid and irregular heartbeat, swelling in legs, ankles and feet, nausea, lack of appetite etc. The main pumping chambers of heart, the ventricles, may become stiff and not properly fit between beats. With time, heart can't pump properly to other parts of the body. Ejection fraction is used to estimate the heart failure and classify treatment. Causes of acute heart failure are allergic reactions, any illness that affects the body, blood clots in lungs, severe infections, virus that attack heart muscles and so on. More details on this topic is explained in powerpoint presentation.
