Presentations | English

The safety and health management system is a part of the Organisation's management system which covers the health and safety work organisation and policy in a company. It plans process for an accident and ill health prevention. The system should cover the entire gambit of an employer's occupational health and safety organisation. Health and Safety Management System has two important goals. They are; to ensure the health and safety of those covered by the system and to ensure an organization is diligent with regard to regulated responsibilities. The key elements of a successful safety and health management system are policy and commitment, planning, implementation and operation, measuring performance, auditing and reviewing performance. Safety and health policies are specific to individual organisation. The content of the policy of an organisation should be based upon the hazards and risks present in the organisation and it should show the fact that systematic hazard identification and risk assessment have been undertaken. And the policy should even contain a commitment, that safety and health legislation will be complied with and should specify those responsible for implementing the policy at all levels in the organisation and define their responsibilities.
