Kisan Diwas, or National Farmers' Day, commemorates the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, a former Prime Minister and farmer leader. The purpose of commemorating the day is to show our appreciation for farmers, who are the backbone of the country's economy. This year's Kisan Diwas falls on the heels of a major victory for farmers, as the government has decided to repeal three contentious farm laws. Farmers have been protesting the three laws near Delhi's borders for over a year. So go ahead and wish everyong a happy kisan diwas on the 23rd of december!
