Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, introspection and prayer for Muslims. It is celebrated as the month during which Muhammad received the initial revelations of the Quran, the holy book for Muslims. Fasting is one of the five fundamental principles of Islam. Each day during Ramadan, Muslims do not eat or drink from dawn to sunset. They are also supposed to avoid impure thoughts and bad behavior. Ramadan is a time to practice self-restraint and self-reflection. Fasting is seen as a way to cleanse the soul and have empathy for those in the world who are hungry and less fortunate. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, ‘A worshipper does not fast a day for the sake of Allah except that that day (of fasting) distances the Fire from his face by seventy autumns’. The Prophet (saw) said, ‘Indeed, there is a gate of Paradise called Ar-Rayyan, through which only those who fasted will enter on the day of Resurrection.Cave in Mount Hira is the location where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received his revelations from Allah SWT through the angel Gabriel. Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) lived in this cave while he received messages from God.
റമദാൻ മുസ്ലീങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉപവാസത്തിന്റെയും ആത്മപരിശോധനയുടെയും പ്രാർത്ഥനയുടെയും വിശുദ്ധ മാസമാണ്. മുസ്ലീങ്ങളുടെ വിശുദ്ധ ഗ്രന്ഥമായ ഖുർആനിന്റെ പ്രാരംഭ വെളിപാടുകൾ മുഹമ്മദിന് ലഭിച്ച മാസമായാണ് ഇത് ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഇസ്ലാമിന്റെ അഞ്ച് അടിസ്ഥാന തത്വങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് നോമ്പ്. റമദാനിൽ എല്ലാ ദിവസവും മുസ്ലീങ്ങൾ പ്രഭാതം മുതൽ സൂര്യാസ്തമയം വരെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കുകയോ കുടിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാറില്ല. അവർ അശുദ്ധമായ ചിന്തകളും മോശം പെരുമാറ്റവും ഒഴിവാക്കണം. ആത്മസംയമനവും ആത്മവിചിന്തനവും പരിശീലിക്കേണ്ട സമയമാണ് റമദാൻ. ആത്മാവിനെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നതിനും ലോകത്തിലെ വിശപ്പുള്ളവരോടും ഭാഗ്യമില്ലാത്തവരോടും സഹാനുഭൂതി കാണിക്കാനുമുള്ള ഒരു മാർഗമായാണ് ഉപവാസം കാണുന്നത്. അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ റസൂൽ (സ) പറഞ്ഞു: ‘ആരാധകർ ആ ദിവസം (നോമ്പ്) അവന്റെ മുഖത്ത് നിന്ന് എഴുപത് ശരത്കാലത്തേക്ക് അഗ്നിയെ അകറ്റുന്നു എന്നല്ലാതെ ഒരു ദിവസം അല്ലാഹുവിന് വേണ്ടി നോമ്പെടുക്കുന്നില്ല, നബി(സ) പറഞ്ഞു: 'തീർച്ചയായും അർ-റയ്യാൻ എന്ന സ്വർഗത്തിന്റെ ഒരു കവാടമുണ്ട്, അതിലൂടെ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേൽപിൻറെ നാളിൽ നോമ്പെടുക്കുന്നവർ മാത്രമേ പ്രവേശിക്കൂ. ഹിറാ പർവതത്തിലെ ഗുഹയാണ് മുഹമ്മദ് നബി(സ)യുടെ സ്ഥാനം. അവൻ) ജിബിരിൽ എന്ന മലക്കിലൂടെ അല്ലാഹുവിൽ നിന്ന് അവന്റെ ഖുർആൻ സ്വീകരിച്ചു .
