A graph is a diagram of points and lines connected to the points. It has at least one line joining a set of two vertices with no vertex connecting itself. The concept of graphs in graph theory stands up on some basic terms such as point, line, vertex, edge, degree of vertices, properties of graphs, etc. Graph theory, branch of mathematics concerned with networks of points connected by lines. Instead, it refers to a set of vertices (that is, points or nodes) and of edges (or lines) that connect the vertices. When any two vertices are joined by more than one edge, the graph is called a multigraph. . Graph Theory is ultimately the study of relationships. Given a set of nodes & connections, which can abstract anything from city layouts to computer data, graph theory provides a helpful tool to quantify & simplify the many moving parts of dynamic systems. Studying graphs through a framework provides answers to many arrangement, networking, optimization, matching and operational problems.
