Global Journalism

Presentations | English

Why is global journalism important? Only journalism equipped with a global outlook, i.e. a global journalism, can develop adequate coverage of climate change, financial meltdowns, drug and human trafficking, internet surveillance, life science, big data society, and other cross-border issues. The globalisation of journalism occurs through a multitude of levels, relationships, social actors and places, as they combine to create new public spaces. One major fault line lies within the broader context of ‘media,’ where journalism has been seen as providing flows of information and transnational connections. Global journalism is a news style that encompasses a global outlook and reports on issues that transcend national boundaries, such as climate change. It focuses on news that is transnational, considering issues that affect the relationships between multiple nation states and regions.
