Generation Gap

Presentations | English

Many grandparents experienced intense intergenerational conflict as they were growing up. As they transition into their responsibilities as family patriarchs and matriarchs, they can be left wondering what happened to the generational gap. Or is it just taking a break? Alternatively, is it still present but mostly underground? The term "generation gap" is typically used to refer to generational differences that cause conflict and impede communication. Grandparents are in a unique position to recognise how generational differences may be advantageous to all parties involved because they have more life experience than younger family members. Although there have always been differences between generations, they have never been as extreme as the name "generation gap" suggests. View this PPT for more information.
