Gene Structure and Sequence Organization

Presentations | English

Genes are arranged, one after another, on structures called chromosomes. Genes are contained in chromosomes, which are in the cell nucleus. A chromosome contains hundreds to thousands of genes. Gene structure is the organisation of specialised sequence elements within a gene. Genes contain the information necessary for living cells to survive and reproduce. In most organisms, genes are made of DNA, where the particular DNA sequence determines the function of the gene. Much of gene structure is broadly similar between eukaryotes and prokaryotes. The presentation gives wider perspective about Gene structure and sequence organization.
