Is there genders equality in our societies? Are there power struggles between them? These are some thought provoking questions that need to be addressed in today's world. Gender stereotyping is an age old concept. It refers to the practice of ascribing to an individual woman or man specific attributes, characteristics or roles which the society expects each to perform. Gender stereotyping is wrongful when it results in a violation or violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms. It is a contributing factor in violations of a vast array of rights such as the right to health, adequate standard of living, education, marriage and family relations, work, freedom of expression and movement, political participation and representation etc. This social evil which needs to be unlearned and wiped out.
