Gastro Esophageal Liver Disease

Presentations | English

"Individuals who have fatty liver, are at a greater risk of being diagnosed with GERD. Fatty liver disease is of two types, Alcohol Liver Disease (ALD), that manifests itself through the excessive use and abuse of alcohol and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) which is far more common. The relationship between gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has been demonstrated in recent epidemiologic studies although the results were inconsistent. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is now recognized as a leading cause of liver dysfunction. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common disorder causing symptoms that often impair patients' quality of life. In recent years, the prevalence of both these diseases has increased, partially overlapping the rise of metabolic disorders."
