1892-ൽ കുഞ്ഞിക്കുട്ടൻ തമ്പുരാൻ കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരാണ് "ഗംഗാവതരൻ നാടകം" പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചതും എഴുതിയതും. ഈ ഗ്രന്ഥം കോട്ടയം മലയാള മനോരമ പ്രസ്സിൽ നിന്നാണ് പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയത്. കോട്ടയത്ത് നടന്ന ഒരു നാടകമാണ് പുസ്തകത്തിൽ പ്രതിപാദിക്കുന്നത്. കുഞ്ഞിക്കുട്ടൻ തമ്പുരാൻ കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ അഞ്ച് മണിക്കൂറും എട്ട് മിനിറ്റും കൊണ്ട് പരമേശ്വര മേനോൻ ആണ് ഈ നാടകം രചിച്ചത്.
