The United Nations General Assembly declared Gandhi Jayanti as the International Day of Non-Violence on June 15, 2007, and it is observed all over the world. The goal is to spread Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy, as well as his nonviolence and peace teachings, throughout the world. Gandhi's birthday is commemorated in some places with physical activities based on a theme, in order to raise public awareness worldwide. Gandhi Jayanti is observed in India in a variety of creative ways by students and teachers in schools and colleges, government officials, and others. It is celebrated by offering flowers to Mahatma Gandhi's statues at Raj Ghat in New Delhi.
