Gamification can be used to engage employees in a variety of ways. It has recognition (progress stimulation), feedback, fun, and collaboration mechanisms. These four mechanisms are linked to the previously mentioned human drivers (purpose, autonomy, mastery, relatedness). Today, gamification is frequently used to attract job candidates and pique their interest in job openings, as you can see here. In September 2018, the company launched PowerUp!, a live, hosted 10-minute mobile trivia game show, as a way to encourage employees to participate in strategic initiatives, according to Houde. Employees from PwC compete for cash prizes based on their knowledge of digital trends.
