Gamification in Energy Conversation Rock the Bulb

Presentations | English

Rock the Bulb is a gamified campaign conducted by Washington State's Puget Sound Energy (PSE) from July to October in the year 2009. The campaign included two major events. In the first event, the people were asked to exchange their existing bulbs with the CFLs from the local hardware stores. They were asked to provide contact details in the store so that the PSEs could track the impact of the CFLs on the household energy savings. The second event asked the people to participate in a contest called 'Be an energy rock star' where they will have to compete with others in reducing the household's energy. In the end, the winning family will be awarded a Lowe's gift card worth $7500.
