“Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do” – Potter Stewart. In simple terms, ethics is a system of moral principles. It is based on well-founded standards of right and wrong that prescribe what humans ought to do. Business ethics is the set of moral rules that govern how businesses operate, how business decisions are made and how associated resources are treated. Business ethics helps the business to maintain better and harmonious relations with society, customers, employees, and the concerned industry sector. It plays an important role in raising the profitability and productivity of a business and improves its goodwill in the market. It enhances the law by outlining standard behaviours beyond government control. Corporations establish business ethics to promote integrity among their employees and gain trust from key stakeholders, such as investors and consumers.
