Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been ruled by many dynasties over the millennia. Naturally, the various rulers have built many a fort for themselves. Many of these forts can be found even today, mostly in ruins. This multi-part series brings to you interesting information on these forts, including the names of the rulers who built them, their unique architecture, the wars fought there, and so on. Covered in this part is the Sirpur Fort in Komarambheem District of Telangana. This area has been prominently occupied by the tribal clans of peninsular India. Around the 9th century AD, a person called Bhallala decided to unify the tribal people of this area under his rule. He not only created a kingdom for them but also laid the foundations of the fort we now know as the Sirpur Fort.
