Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been ruled by many dynasties over the millennia. Naturally, the various rulers have built many a fort for themselves. Many of these forts can be found even today, mostly in ruins. This multi-part series brings to you interesting information on these forts, including the names of the rulers who built them, their unique architecture, the wars fought there, and so on. Covered in this part is the Khila Ghanpur, located in the Mahabubnagar District of Telangana. The fort was constructed by the Kakatiya rulers. The fort, to this day, offers spectacular views of stone stairs, stone arches, and exquisite stone carvings.
