Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been ruled by many dynasties over the millennia. Naturally, the various rulers have built many a fort for themselves. Many of these forts can be found even today, mostly in ruins. This multi-part series brings to you interesting information on these forts, including the names of the rulers who built them, their unique architecture, the wars fought there, and so on. Covered in this part is the Domakonda Samsthanam, located in the Kamareddy District of Telangana. This Samsthanam is also known as the Bikkanavolu Samsthanam and belonged to the Kamineni family. It is said that by the 19th century itself, this Samsthanam was getting an income in the range of rupees 2 lakhs, thereby making it necessary to imply over 20 Arab guards for its safety.
