The song "Ezhilam Paala Poothu" was sung by K. J. Yesudas and P. Susheela for the movie Kaadu. It is a 1973 Indian Malayalam film, directed by P. Subramaniam. The music was composed by Vedpal Varma and the lyrics were written by Sreekumaran Thampi. The film stars Madhu, Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair, Shanthi and C. L. Anandan in the key roles. The Tamil adaptation, Malai Naattu Mangai, featured Gemini Ganesan, Sasi Kumar, Cho, and C. L. Anandan in the same roles as the Malayalam version. Vedpal Varma was a story writer and lyricist before he turned to music director. He faced considerable struggle to get into the music industry, hailing from Rajasthan, a Sindhi by birth.
കാട് എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിന് വേണ്ടി കെ.ജെ.യേശുദാസും പി.സുശീലയും ചേർന്ന് ആലപിച്ചതാണ്"എഴിലം പാലാ പൂത്തു" എന്ന ഗാനം. പി. സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യം സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത 1973-ലെ ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ മലയാളം ചലച്ചിത്രമാണിത്. ശ്രീകുമാരൻ തമ്പിയുടെ വരികൾക്ക് വേദപാൽ വർമ്മ സംഗീതം പകർന്നു. മധു, തിക്കുറിശ്ശി സുകുമാരൻ നായർ, ശാന്തി, സി എൽ ആനന്ദൻ എന്നിവരാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. മലയാളം പതിപ്പിന്റെ അതേ വേഷങ്ങളിൽ ജെമിനി ഗണേശൻ, ശശി കുമാർ, സി.എൽ. ആനന്ദൻ എന്നിവർ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. സംഗീത സംവിധായകനിലേക്ക് തിരിയുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് വേദപാൽ വർമ്മ ഒരു കഥാകൃത്തും ഗാനരചയിതാവുമായിരുന്നു. ജന്മംകൊണ്ട് സിന്ധിക്കാരനായ രാജസ്ഥാൻ സ്വദേശിയായ അദ്ദേഹം സംഗീത വ്യവസായത്തിലേക്ക് പ്രവേശിക്കാൻ കാര്യമായ പോരാട്ടം നേരിട്ടു.
