The song 'Ezharapponnana' was sung by P. Madhuri for the Malayalam film Akkarappacha, which was released in 1972. It was directed by MM Nesan and Produced by MM Nesan / Sukumaran. The film stars Sathyan, Jayabharathi, Kaviyoor Ponnamma and Sunil in the lead roles. G. Devarajan has composed the music for the lyrics written by Vayalar Rama Varma. Ettumanoor Temple in Kottayam district, also known as Ezharapponnana, is a complete collection of gold statues of seven large elephants and one small elephant. These elephants are made of plavin wood and covered with gold leaf. The height is two feet for large elephants and one foot for small elephants. The famous Ezharaponnana Ezhunnallippu is held for the Rohini Nakshatra in the month of Kumbha, the eighth festival of the Ettumanoor temple. On that day, Ettumanoor Thevar awoke in the headquarters hall in the west corner of the temple with a vision of Ezharaponnana.
ഏഴരപ്പൊന്നാന എന്ന ഗാനം പി.മാധുരി അക്കരപ്പച്ച എന്ന മലയാളം ചിത്രത്തിന് വേണ്ടി ആലപിച്ചതാണ്, ഇത് 1972-ൽ എം.എം. നേശൻ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത് എം.എം. നേശൻ/സുകുമാരൻ എന്നിവർ ചേർന്ന് നിർമ്മിച്ചതാണ്. സത്യൻ, ജയഭാരതി, കവിയൂർ പൊന്നമ്മ, സുനിൽ എന്നിവരാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. വയലാർ രാമവർമ എഴുതിയ വരികൾക്ക് രാഗമോഹനത്തിൽ ജി.ദേവരാജനാണ് സംഗീതം നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഏഴ് വലിയ ആനകളുടെയും ഒരു ചെറിയ ആനയുടെയും സ്വർണ്ണ പ്രതിമകളുടെ സമ്പൂർണ ശേഖരമാണ് ഏഴരപ്പൊന്നാന എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയിലെ ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ ക്ഷേത്രം. ഈ ആനകൾ പ്ലാവിൻ മരം കൊണ്ടാണ് നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്, സ്വർണ്ണ ഇലകൾ കൊണ്ട് പൊതിഞ്ഞതാണ്. വലിയ ആനകൾക്ക് രണ്ടടിയും ചെറിയ ആനകൾക്ക് ഒരടിയുമാണ് ഉയരം. ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ എട്ടാം ഉത്സവമായ കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ രോഹിണി നക്ഷത്രത്തിനാണ് പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഏഴരപ്പൊന്നാന എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പ് നടക്കുന്നത്. അന്നേ ദിവസം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പടിഞ്ഞാറെ മൂലയിലെ ആസ്ഥാന മണ്ഡപത്തിൽ ഏഴരപ്പൊന്നാന ദർശനത്തോടെ ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ തേവർ എഴുന്നള്ളിച്ചു.
