Ethics and Ownership

Presentations | English

“Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do” – Potter Stewart. Ethics or moral philosophy is a branch of philosophy that involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong behaviour. At its simplest, ethics is a system of moral principles. It is based on well-founded standards of right and wrong that prescribe what humans ought to do, usually in terms of rights, obligations, benefits to society, fairness, or specific virtues. Accept ownership for your actions, be accountable for your results, take ownership of your mistakes is a common saying. Ownership includes being decisive, solve problems, delegating, abstaining from blame, taking responsibility and regular objective reflection on events and their own actions. It means that the owner is the person who takes responsibility for any shortcomings, even if they aren't necessarily his or her own personal fault. The presentation gives further insight on the topic.
