This is Jody's Fawn', which is included in Unit - 6 of the class 8 NCERT English textbook, Honeydew, is an extract from the famous Pulitzer Prize-winning fiction titled, “The Yearling”, by M K Rawlings. This story is about a boy who adopted a fawn after he sacrificed its mother to save his father's life. Fiction and nature being the domain of Rawlings, he beautifully demonstrated through central character of the story, the courage to do the right sacrifice at the right time. Furthermore, this story drives home the moral of taking care of the needy and orphans who deserve some love from the rest of us.
