The Summit Within', which is included in Unit - 5 of the grade 8 NCERT English textbook, Honeydew, is adapted from Major Hari Pal Singh Ahluwalia's autobiography, “Higher Than Everest: Memoirs of a Mountaineer". It is an inspirational story that revolves around understanding the importance of adventure sport in one’s life. Major Ahluwalia describes his amalgam of emotions upon scaling the peak; the experience that changed his life and the decisions further ahead.
