Engineer's Day is observed in the country every year on September 15th in honour of Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya's contribution to nation building. Since 1968, the birth anniversary of Sir M Visvesvaraya has been commemorated as Engineer's Day as a tribute to a great engineer who assisted in the construction of architectural marvels such as the Krishna Raja Sagar dam in Karnataka.
