The term is defined as study related to hormones, which is essential for survival. Hormones are chemical messengers produced in one part of the body, reaches its destination through blood stream and does its function. Endocrine glands secrete hormones, which are about 8 glands scattered throughout the body. They are pituitary, pineal, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pancreas, gonads (ovary and testes). Every hormone have a specific job role and about 40 hormones circulate throughout the body at any time. They causes different parts to communicate and the processes they are involved in are growth and development, blood sugar control, metabolism, reproduction, regulation of blood pressure and heart rate, sexual development and function etc. If endocrine system fail to work, that can cause hormonal imbalances. Hyperthyroidism, diabetes, hypoglycemia, cushing's disease, acromegaly, addison's disease and so on are the causes of hormonal imbalances.
