Which species are called as Endangered Species? A species considered to be facing a very high risk of extinction in the wild is known as Endangered Species. The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species is the world’s most comprehensive inventory of the global conservation status of plant and animal species. It uses a set of quantitative criteria to evaluate the extinction risk of thousands of species. The IUCN Red List includes The Asiatic Lion is one of the mightiest species of a lion in the world. The entire population of the species can now only be found in India, referred to as the ‘Big Cat' in our country, the Bengal Tiger has 70 percent of its overall population living in India. Due to the rigorous poaching instances in India, the species have become endangered in the last 4 years, The Snow Leopard is a large cat that used to be found in large numbers in the mountain ranges of Asia and the number of snow leopards has dropped down to almost 500, The Nilgiri Tahr is an endangered mountain goat species, The Kashmiri Red Stag is also known as Hangul, and have been critically endangered for decades, The Blackbuck is also known as the Indian antelope is also critically endangered along with The One-horned Rhino is also called the Indian rhinoceros.
