Electrostatics

Presentations | English

Electrostatics is a branch of physics that studies electric charges at rest (static electricity). Since classical physics, it has been known that some materials, such as amber, attract lightweight particles after rubbing. Electrostatic phenomena arise from the forces that electric charges exert on each other. Charges reach their equilibrium positions rapidly, because the electric force is extremely strong. The force exerted by a charged particle on another charged particle depends on their separation distance, on their velocities and on their accelerations. The electric field at a particular point is a vector whose magnitude is proportional to the total force acting on a test charge located at that point, and whose direction is equal to the direction of the force acting on a positive test charge. Applications of electrostatics are in photocopiers, laser printers, ink-jet printers and electrostatic air filters. The presentation can equip you with more materials. Please have a look.
