Electromagnetic Spectrum

Presentations | English

The spectrum contains different ranges of electromagnetic radiation based on frequency and radiation. The types include radio waves, microwave, infrared, visible, ultraviolet, x ray and gamma ray. The ones with longest wavelength is radio waves and they are captured by the antenna of your radio by letting us hear music out of it. Microwave energy can penetrate light rain and they are capable of transmitting information from one place to another. Infrared has different wavelengths, near infrared lies close to visible light and far infrared lies near to the microwave region in the spectrum. Visible light is the only waves we can see. Ultraviolet is visible to some insects and have shorter wavelength than visible light. X rays have smaller wavelength hence high energy and it acts more like a particle than a wave. Gamma rays have the most energy when compared to any other waves in the spectrum. More details can be understood from the powerpoint presentation.
