Electrochemistry

Presentations | English

Do you know about electrochemistry, a branch of chemistry which is widely applicable in our daily life? Electrochemistry is the study of electricity and how it relates to chemical reactions. Simply, it is a science studying the relationship between chemical energy and electrical energy and the rules of conversion of two energies. It can also be defined as the study of solutions of electrolytes and of phenomena occurring at electrodes immersed in these solutions. In electrochemistry, electricity can be generated by movements of electrons from one element to another in a reaction. This reaction is known as redox or oxidation-reduction reaction. Applied aspects of electrochemistry includes industrial electrolytic processes, electrochemical reactors, batteries, fuel cells, electrochemical devices etc. The two main branches in electrochemistry are chemical reactions that create electricity such as batteries and electricity to produce new compounds. More details are explained in the presentation.
