Ramanan is a 1967 Malayalam romantic musical film written, directed, and produced by D. M. Pottekkat. "Ekantha kamuka" is a song from the film Ramanan. The film is based on Changampuzha Krishna Pillai's poem Ramanan (1936). The principal parts are played by Prem Nazir and Sheela, a well-known on-screen couple. Other major characters include Madhu, Kottayam Chellappan, Kamaladevi, Meenakumari, Ramu Kariat, Adoor Bhasi, Usha Kumari, and Manavalan Joseph. Changampuzha wrote the lyrics, and K. Raghavan composed the music. This song was sung by Shantha P. Nair. Prem Nazir and Sheela performed their roles in impressively. Ramanan is blinded by his love for Chandrika and the lovers meet frequently on the hill top. Though Chandrika initially supported her lover, she eventually changed her mind. Ramanan, heartbroken, hangs himself from a tree on the mountaintop where he first met Chandrika. The catastrophe occurred on the day of Chandrika's wedding.
1967-ൽ ഡി.എം. പൊറ്റെക്കാട്ട് എഴുതി, സംവിധാനവും നിർമ്മാണവും ചെയ്ത ഒരു മലയാളം റൊമാന്റിക് സംഗീത ചലച്ചിത്രമാണ് രമണൻ. ഈ ചിത്രത്തിലെ ഒരു ഗാനമാണ് "ഏകാന്ത കാമുക". ചങ്ങമ്പുഴ കൃഷ്ണപിള്ളയുടെ രമണൻ (1936) എന്ന കവിതയെ ആസ്പദമാക്കിയാണ് ചിത്രം നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. സ്ക്രീനിലെ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ദമ്പതികളായ പ്രേം നസീറും ഷീലയുമാണ് പ്രധാന ഭാഗങ്ങൾ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. മധു, കോട്ടയം ചെല്ലപ്പൻ, കമലാദേവി, മീനാകുമാരി, രാമു കാര്യാട്ട്, അടൂർ ഭാസി, ഉഷാകുമാരി, മണവാളൻ ജോസഫ് എന്നിവരാണ് മറ്റ് പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങൾ. ചങ്ങമ്പുഴ വരികൾ എഴുതി, കെ.രാഘവൻ സംഗീതം പകർന്നു. ശാന്ത പി നായരാണ് ഈ ഗാനം ആലപിച്ചത്. പ്രേം നസീറും ഷീലയും തങ്ങളുടെ വേഷങ്ങൾ ഗംഭീരമായി അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. ചന്ദ്രികയോടുള്ള സ്നേഹത്താൽ രമണൻ അന്ധനാകുന്നു, പ്രേമികൾ കുന്നിൻ മുകളിൽ പതിവായി കണ്ടുമുട്ടുന്നു. ചന്ദ്രിക ആദ്യം കാമുകനെ പിന്തുണച്ചെങ്കിലും ഒടുവിൽ തീരുമാനം മാറ്റി. ഹൃദയം തകർന്ന രമണൻ, ചന്ദ്രികയെ ആദ്യമായി കണ്ട മലമുകളിലെ മരത്തിൽ തൂങ്ങിമരിച്ചു. ചന്ദ്രികയുടെ വിവാഹദിനത്തിലായിരുന്നു ദുരന്തം.
