There are two major divisions in the state of Andhra Pradesh — Costal Andhra and Rayalaseema. Coastal Andhra spans over 9 districts and is located by the Bay of Bengal. These districts are also known as the Sarkar Districts. Several major rivers including the Krishna, Godavari and Penna flow through these 9 districts, making them some of the most fertile lands in the country. This region is popular for its rice fields and sugarcane plantations. Apart from these, almost every nook and corner of these districts boast of their own specialities, be it crops, sweets, handicrafts, handlooms and the like.
