Presentations | English

Disability is a part of being human. Everyone will be experiencing permanent or temporary disability at some point in their life. About 15% of the global population live with some form of disability and this number is increasing every day. A disability is any condition of the body or mind that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities and interact with the world around them. People with disability experience poorer health outcomes, have less access to education and work opportunities, and are more likely to live in poverty than those without a disability. Although disabled people sometimes refer to a single population, this is actually a diverse group of people with a wide range of needs. Two people with the same type of disability can be affected in very different ways. Some disabilities may be hidden or not easy to see. According to the World Health Organization, disability has three dimensions: impairment, activity limitation and participation limitation. It is very important to improve the conditions in communities by providing for people with disabilities.
