Design Thinking - Geoffrey Broadbent's Four Methods

Presentations | English

In reality, Broadbent's method most likely does not work as a whole, but rather relies on four distinct ways of generating design form, which he referred to as the 'pragmatic,' 'iconic,' 'analogical,' and 'canonic' methods. This strategy entails creating an early, low-cost, and scaled-down version of the product to expose any flaws in the existing design. Designers can utilise prototyping to bring their ideas to life, evaluate the viability of their existing design, and possibly examine how a group of people thinks and feels about a product. The most obvious technique for designers to determine and understand exactly how users will engage with a product is to test how customers interact with it. Producing a finalised product for users to test would be foolish and pointless. The next time you need to solve a problem, focus on three core design thinking principles, or the 3 E's: empathy, expansive thinking, and experimentation.
