Algorithms are the heart of computer science, and the subject has countless practical applications as well as intellectual depth. An algorithm is a finite set of instructions that specifies a sequence of operation is to be carried out in order to solve a specific problem or class of problems. Algorithms are used in computer science to perform calculations, automatic reasoning, data processing, computations and problem solving. Designing an algorithm is important before writing the program code as the algorithm explains the logic even before the code is developed. Design and analysis algorithm help to design the algorithms for solving different types of problems in computer science. It also helps to design and analyse the logic on how the program will work before developing the actual code for a program. The most straightforward reason for analysing an algorithm is to discover its characteristics in order to evaluate its suitability for various applications or compare it with other algorithms for the same application. Algorithms tend to become shorter, simpler, and more elegant during the analysis process.
