Deforestation is when forests are destroyed by cutting trees and not replanting them. The most common reason is to clear the land to make farms and ranches, for firewood and lumber. Deforestation destroys the habitat of many animals, leading to their death. It leads to the decrease in forest areas across the world that are lost for other uses such as agricultural croplands, urbanization, or mining activities. It has been negatively affecting natural ecosystems, biodiversity, and the climate causing soil erosions, landslides and disturbed rain patterns. Trees absorb and store carbon dioxide and if forests are cleared, or even disturbed, they release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Forest loss and damage is the cause of around 10% of global warming. There's simply no way we can fight the climate crisis if we don't stop deforestation and start planting more trees. The presentation can provide you more facts.
