The steps include, identifying the decision to be made, the first and prior step. Try to collect information, both internal and external. The internal comes from yourself, like why this choice is important, how this can be obtained etc. The external can be taken from people around you, their suggestions and also from online. Figure out the alternatives, possible routes to act. Visualize and imagine the pathways and the destination. Think like what it would be like if each alternative is chosen. The weightage should be given and the best is to be opted. May be combination of more alternatives will be a good way. Now act accordingly and implement the way you selected.
